This year marks the 10th anniversary of Zoom as a company. When I look back on how far we’ve come and all we’ve accomplished, a lot of words come to mind – challenging, fulfilling, unexpected, humbling. But one word specifically stands out – grateful.
I am truly grateful and honored to be in my position today. Nurturing an idea into a growing global business takes a lot of hard work and perhaps even more good luck. So many great ideas never get the chance to flourish, and I’m very appreciative and indebted to everyone who helped make Zoom soar, especially our customers. None of this would have been possible without every one of you.
Celebrating Zoom’s fifth anniversary.
Some of you have only known Zoom since early 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic placed a global spotlight on the work our teams had been doing for nearly a decade – connecting people through reliable, innovative communications.
We actually founded Zoom in 2011 to improve how people communicate globally. Numerous web and video conferencing options existed in the market, but it was our belief that none of them were as intuitive, reliable, and comprehensive for the modern era of work and learning. And 10 years later, we can safely say that we were on to something, to truly deliver happiness to the end user.
We started by changing how video communications could be delivered and consumed, uniquely architecting our platform to be video-first and compatible with customers’ preferred technology ecosystem. People took notice.
Reflecting on today
Building on that early video success, with the input and guidance from our customers, we’ve innovated from a single video app into a comprehensive communications platform that powers every type of organization, from a single entrepreneur’s vision to small and medium-sized businesses to multinational enterprises with hundreds of thousands of employees.
